What a HOT weekend. Man it was 109 in the shade and this was
my first big race with no motorhome or air to get out of the
heat. Took a toll on us for sure. Like sitting in a sauna all
day, then "time to race"...
I entered this race thinking I would be retiring soon from
Pro racing. My new job is so demanding that I have only raced
twice in the last 4 months, this big race being the second.
I am glad to report I got the "stoke" back, and having
40z as my pit man was a HUGE part of the difference. He is fast,
helpful, great attitude, and very capable. Here is how the weekend
went.
Sat.
Truggy,
Had a decent round, but my throttle servo horn slipped, and
when I let the trigger go to natural, it locks up tight all
4 wheels. Had to run the race NEVER letting it get to zero,
with that , took 7th out of 17 truggys on ONE tiny track. Talk
about madness... man oh man. Truggy second round found me with
NO BRAKES, Shocked They broke the class in two and I got 4th
out of about 8 or 9 drivers, not bad for no brakes. THIRD ROUND
rocked, I had the ST dialed and my Dadders mod STS .28 had many
pointing at my truck, I was locked in a struggle with Ryan Lutz,
Kyosho pro, we swapped lead every lap, his truggy holding a
tight line, my ST blasting an arching flowing line on every
lap. Opposite lines, swapping lead lap after lap. SO much fun,
I was on a A main run for sure, and then hit a dead truck on
the straight. I was full punch and I don't know why but my engine
died right then also. Bummer, but that is racing. My main seating
was decided by the previous round, 3rd in B main.
Buggy:
The buggy was SO dialed, man o man, it rocked. I was very happy
with it. I was only about 1 second off A main pace when I was
locked in and running well. I got caught here and there in pile
ups etc, and qualled 9th in the B with mains running to D or
E if I remember right. I was running the STS .21E engine, it
is about 100 bucks, and had a Dadders mod, it was very fast,
and fun to hang with the expensive italian metal, it is a bit
to thirsty to be a good buggy racer, but no one had power on
me...
SUNDAY:
The heat from SAT was so bad, it was all 40z and I could to
to pack up and hit the motel, woke up Sunday and waited as long
as we could to go sit in the heat. Truggy race was first up
and my best shot at the A main.
The B main started, and my truck did not feel right, then the
throttle stuck on, then stuck off, then stopped working. Throttle
servo died... man I was bummed. Cost me an A main for sure.
In buggy b main, I just got my tail handed to me, simple. Jay
Halsey and the boys were laying down 20 an 21 second laps, I
was doing 22 and 23s, I got in a rhythm and ripped off a bunch
of 22's and some 21s and the buggy stopped. Clutch or something,
just stopped moving.
I was stoked and re-stoked on racing. I will NOT be retiring,
I hooked up 40z with my old backup buggy, we are going to race
once a month, and look to the next big race.
Fun stuff, congrats to the Newberry Springs OLD MAN IN THE
A MAIN in truggy and it was great hangin with ROB and horsepower,
and Dadders and every one else.... we will get them next time.
RCX Rocked, Here
is a vid of the XTM Demo team I was a part of, I was MCing
on the microphone and driving, as well as answering questions
and showing people how awesome the XT2 and Mammoth ST are. Here
are some images of the event.
Bustin some big air with the STS .28 powered Mammoth ST on the
supercross jump

More big air, it was a blast launching it as high as
I could over and over.

I'm the driver on the far left, pulling a front flip,
pulled it off too... Thanks XTM Racing for having me as part
of your awesome team...

The STS D21B Breaks the 1/8
Buggy A main barrier at
The
Best of the West #1
In the Open 1/8 Buggy Class with a Dadders.net
Stage 2 Competition Mod STS D21B Engine.
Racing in the Open class I was able to qualify in the 5th position
of the A main. The Open 1/8 buggy class went to the E main in
Racer Count. The STS D21B with a Dadders Stage 2 Completion
Mod was flawless. It had screaming top end and amazing grunt
down low for short run up jumps. In the main event, I got in
a dog pile that was near comical right at the start in turn
one. I was on the bottom of course, and came out last. I was
able to work from last to 6th in about 8 min of the 20 min main.
When I had 5th place in my sights, a buggy was stopped at the
end of the straight and I hit it going full tilt. That crash
broke my left front shock and ended my race. This was my first
ever 1/8 buggy race at a large event and I was stoked to have
made the A main and done that well. Thanks to Dadders.net
and BigAirProducts.com
for the onsite support and engine mod. That engine was lacking
nothing on the Italian jobs. $150.00 engine and a $60.00 mod
by Dadders.net, not a bad deal eh?

RacerNine wins the 2005
RD Logics Fall Championship in the Expert Truggy class.
The STS .28 was simply amazing. This is the
same engine that was overheated to 400 degrees 3 times, then
won the O'Donnells Offroad Championship in the Monster Truck
Class. This time with the same truck and the SAME engine that
was modded by Dadders.net
( no new parts at all )
we entered it in the Expert Truggy Class. The STS .28 hung with
the Italian Engines with no problems at all. Check out the movie.
Talk about "Power On Tap"... The BigAirProducts.com
