Hello everyone,
My name is Joe Drury, and I have been into R/C for quite a
long time (since I was 13, I am now 33, do the math). And I
have been racing for a long time too. I started out in electrics
(can anyone say flashlight) racing oval for 7 years. I was 17
at that time. Oval was really big around here. Oval kind of
took a slump and I started racing in the parking lots with 4wd
sedans, what we lovingly call touring cars now. I did this with
electrics for quite some time, then someone brought a nitro
car to the track one day and it was over for me from that point.
I was hit by the nitro bug and there was no looking back. My
adventure into this left me in the parking lot and I became
a very good driver/racer at this level. I hit some big races
down in Joyce Park (that’s in Cincinnati, OH) and some
races up near Toledo (that’s in Ohio too). I took some
time off, just played around, and tinkered here and there. I
finally decided to get back into it, and decided to try my hand
at off-road. I thought this would be nice since I have worked
with some local Boy Scouts with a project involving some Traxxas
T-maxxes. I thought what a good opportunity to give back to
Scouting since I am an Eagle Scout. This put me where I am today,
using the Internet I found Racernine.com, and they sounded like
an operation that I would like to get involved with.
I bought a Losi LST, and a Hot Bodies LSP-R and I needed an
engine. I did not want to invest in anything that was very expensive
since I was not sure haw often I would race, or bash. The old
motor on the Losi was giving up the ghost so I thought a new
mill was the answer. I hooked up with Ryan, and I purchased
the STS .28 to give it a shot. The testimonials on this web
site kind of persuaded me towards this mill. Also the fact that
everyone else around here was running .28’s and .32’s.
Well the motor came; I did the usual break-in (followed Ryan’s
recommendations) and took her to the track. Now everyone knows
how big the LST is, right, well let me say the engine in stock
form, no mods has more power than this truck can even handle.
There was another guy there with an LST with a .32 and his truck
did not have the power that mine had. Torque is out of control
(wheelie monster!), and top end is OH MY GOD! STS has made a
firm believer in me that the money you spend on your higher
priced motors could be used for better things, it doesn’t
mean that you have the best.
Ryan THANK YOU and STS engines ROCK!!!!!
P.S. I will be getting the STS .21 Team Motor for the LSP-R
Sincerely,
Joe Drury
