My Name is Dan Walter,
I am twenty nine years old with a high school diploma and fifty-six
college credit hours. I am an underwriter at RSI International
and have been for six years. It’s a family run business
that my father owns, my brother is also an underwriter and my
sister is the accountant. I am able to change my work schedule
as needed to fit a racing schedule. I work with many people
on a daily basis and am very sociable.

I rediscovered my love of RC cars last summer and have become
actively involved in the St. Louis Dirtburners RC Club, www.dirtburners.org,
I am the track manager this year and built the track for The
first round of the Missouri Pro series and the first round of
RC Pro Series Midwest Division. Every time I race I learn something
new. I am willing to help fix anyone’s broken car, marshal
when it’s my turn or when extra marshal’s are needed,
and the most important thing it to listen to the other racers.
I believe that I am an excellent ambassador because I will take
the time to answers spectators questions and try to encourage
them into this hobby.
I race as much as possible because every time I put my car
down I get faster and learn something new. I raced electric
all winter and it made a huge difference in my nitro driving
once the summer season started. I can race and compete to win
with every car I own and love every minute of it.
Races I plan to attend in 2006
RC Pro Series Missouri, Three Races
RC Pro Series Mid-West, Four Races
St. Louis Off Road Series
A few Money/Trophy Races
Club races
Currents Cars are:
1/8th Scale – Jammin X1-CR Buggy
1/8th Scale – Jammin X1-CRT Truggy
1/10th Scale – XXX-T Matt Francis
1/10th Scale – ZX-5 Kyosho
I have only been racing since August 05’ and can beat
any driver at the club level except some of the local factory
pilots. My goal by the end of the summer is to beat them and
place in the top 20 in the RC Pro Series Midwest so I can go
to the Championships. I raced electric all winter but didn’t
keep track of my results. Here are my nitro results I kept track
of from when I started racing last August. I quit keeping track
of club level races because the club president isn’t very
good about posting them.

RECENT UPDATES:

The Second round of the Missouri RC Pro Series was this past
weekend in
Novelty, Missouri. I got there the morning of the race for the
few hours of
practice. I got my car dialed in very quickly because the motor
holds a
good tune so I needed very few minor adjustments. In the first
round of
qualifying I made only one mistake by jumping the big triple
and landing on
top of a buggy which flipped me on my lid. I still ended up
with the best
run in the first round so I got Zero qual points. The second
run I had a
bit of trouble with some traffic and had the third best run
so I got three
qual points. I was still in second overall so I needed one more
zero to
hopefully wrap up the TQ position. My third run was almost flawless
and I
thought I had done it until the sheets were posted and I took
second by one
second, two qual points for round 3. Round 4 I had a good run
going until
the last lap I earned another lap and someone who was finished
decided to
take another lap and got in my way and wrecked me. The marshals
were
already off the track so It really killed my last run. I got
four qual
points so there was no hope for the TQ position in the A-main.
I ended up
with second overall with two total qual points, the TQ position
had Zero.
Before the mains I went completely over my car and got mentally
ready to go
for the win. I took a few laps, settled my nerves, and pulled
into the
second position on the grid. The race started and in the first
turn someone
ran into me and I was all the way back to 7th position. I didn't
let the
bad start effect me and started putting down the fastest laps
of the entire
day. By the fifth minute I was all the way up to second place.
I took a
pit which bumped my back to forth but I easily took second back
within a lap
and continued gaining on the leader. Buy the tenth minute I
was comfortably
in second and took another pit. The leader was four seconds
ahead and we
were running almost identical laps for the next five minutes.
We both took
our last pits and started the last five minutes of the race.
After two laps
the leader made a mistake which gave me the lead. After a couple
laps we
were battling for the lead position. He took the inside lane
coming onto
the straight and I was forced to back off or wreck us both.
I stayed right
behind him for a minute or two and he cased a jump badly, his
pipe came off
the engine and I was able to cruise to the victory.
It was a good race and my STS team motor was strong the entire
twenty
minutes. I had good pit man, my laps were only three second
off my average
when I pitted, which really makes a difference in the mains.
I'd just like
to thank RACERNINE and STS Motors for giving me the opportunity
to represent
there company and run their motor.
Thanks,
Daniel R Walter
